Glebe Singers

Glebe Singers is a mixed choir founded in 1999 based in Market Deeping. The main aim of the choir is to enjoy singing together and increasing access to choral music in the community, whilst achieving high standards of performance under direction from their Chairman, David Scoffield.

The Glebe Singers have performed at numerous local venues in Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire over the years including Market Deeping, Langtoft, Thurlby, and Burghley House, with a wide repertoire of music, ranging from Andrew Lloyd Webber to John Rutter, and Stanley Vann to Vaughan Williams and Gershwin. Most recently they have won the prestigious Mixed Choir category at the Peterborough Music Festival (2013) and came a close second in the Ladies category. Many future exciting plans have already been put in place for the choir, including concerts and competitions.

The choir has also been involved in several concerts and events to raise money for charity. These have included a concert for Cancer Research, a cheese-and-wine musical evening for Marie Curie Nurses, a joint concert with Peterborough choir Cantatrici in aid of the Bourne based Willoughby School. Most recently the choir has travelled to Snettisham, Norfolk to perform a concert with all funds raised going to the Norfolk Tapping House Hospice.

The choir now has around 30 members ranging in all ages, and are looking to expand on membership in all sections. If you have experience of singing, and would like to join us, please do get in touch (phone: 07921 813442) and come along to a rehearsal to see who we are and what we do.

The choir meets each Wednesday at 7:30pm at the Market Deeping Community Primary School, Willoughby Avenue, Market Deeping, PE6 8JE.
